DDP Now Available at TUTT: Duties and Taxes Prepaid on International Orders
Clear Pricing. No Delays. Fully Compliant.
TUTT Store is pleased to confirm that as of September 2025, we have successfully implemented Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping for most international destinations. This means customers outside of Canada—including the USA, UK, EU, and Australia—can now receive their orders with duties, VAT, and customs fees prepaid at checkout, with no additional payments or paperwork upon delivery.
What Is DDP and Why It Matters
Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) is an international shipping method in which all applicable import duties and taxes are calculated and paid by the seller on behalf of the buyer. The customer pays a single, all-inclusive amount during checkout, and the shipment is delivered without delay or further charges at the border.
In contrast, under methods like DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) or DAP (Delivered at Place), customers are responsible for paying all duties and taxes upon arrival, often leading to delays, administrative fees, and customs clearance issues.
How the Tax and Duty Are Calculated at Checkout
When placing an international order on tutt.world, the following process occurs automatically during checkout:
-
Customer Enters Shipping Address
Once the customer selects their delivery country, our system detects the destination.
-
System Matches Product HS Code
Each product is classified under a Harmonized System Code (HS Code)—a globally recognized 6-digit code defined by the World Customs Organization (WCO).
WCO – About the Harmonized System
-
Local Rules Are Applied
Based on:
- The HS Code of the product
- The destination country’s import regulations
- The product origin (typically China) and export country (Canada)
…the system calculates precise customs duties and taxes using updated tariff data per country.
-
Final Charges Are Displayed
The exact amount for duties and taxes is shown before completing checkout. This number is:
- Determined by licensed customs brokers
- Fully compliant with local tax laws
- Not set by TUTT
These fees are collected on behalf of carriers such as DHL, Purolator, or UPS, and are directly paid to them to process and clear the package through local customs.
Why HS Codes Matter
The HS Code (Harmonized System) is an international product classification framework used by over 200 countries. It allows customs authorities to:
- Classify products uniformly
- Determine accurate tax and duty rates
- Apply trade agreements or restrictions if applicable
Each TUTT product is linked to its correct HS Code, ensuring that only legal and accurate tariffs are applied.
Example:
Portable Monitors → HS Code: 8471.60 (Display units used with computers)
